Christmas Event

Covid may interrupt our normal activities, but it can’t stop us from blessing our fighters and survivors!!

Here are just a few beautiful masked ladies (that allowed their picture to be taken) picking up their pretty pink poinsettias that we purchased from Pleasant Valley Greenhouse and Nursery!

The ladies signed up to receive one and then went and picked it up.

Thank you so much to Dan Spring who goes ABOVE and BEYOND to let these ladies how much they are loved and missed!! Even though we can’t be there in person, Dan is the best liaison to represent PPP!! Thanks to Dan Evans for all the help he provides to get us whatever we need!

TREE OF HOPE.jpg

2020 Tree of Hope

This year, due to the pandemic, the lighting ceremony for the our Tree of Hope was not able to be held not. However, ornaments containing names of fighters and survivors of breast cancer were provided and were been placed on the tree.

Per the Olean Times Herald:

OLEAN — Lynn Anzivine was saddened when she realized that it wouldn’t be safe to hold the annual Tree of Hope lighting ceremony to honor Pink Pumpkin Project survivors and fighters.

But volunteers with the organization have found a way to honor people who defeated breast cancer or are fighting the disease with the tree this year in Lincoln Park.

“Everyone was very, very sad because two of the things we really look forward to most are the celebrations as it really gives the fighters and survivors a chance to be recognized by members of our community,” Anzivine said. “That night is really all about them. The other is of the Tree of Hope because all of the community is able to get together around the tree and sing songs remembering those who received their heavenly healing, while acknowledging the fighters and survivors.”

SBU Pink Game!!!

Sunday, February 9th was the SBU Women’s Basketball Annual Pink Game where ALL Cancer Survivors are honored.

Paul Brown was the game sponsor and the recipients of the monies collected were OGH Cancer Services and PPP. Game shirts, raffle tickets and “pink” small basketballs were all sold in order to raise money. Each group received $1,771.50!!

To kick off the weekend, the Women’s Basketball Team and Coaches met the fighters/survivors over at Laurie’s Retreat of Hope. It was a nice hour or so where everyone got together, shared stories, had laughs and got to know each other. What an awesome way to start off Sunday’s big event!

This year, the word was, Community. The video produced by Danny Bush (link here), featured Melissa Beer, a breast cancer survivor and her journey. It depicted her walk of faith, grace and strength and the community that rallied around her and her family.

Before half time, those who wished to participate, were asked to gather around the court and hold up their signs “I fight For….” It was truly an awe-inspiring moment to see Melissa and her family lead the fight song as over 100 friends and family held their signs high and proud with names of who they fight for!

Leslie Moffett, sang National and John Dwaileebe was the official photographer for PPP

To our families, friends, community members, Dr.’s, nurses, staff...everyone involved in the PINK Game Day, YOU ROCK! The interns, the media, the DJ, all the sound people and announcers

We hope we did not leave anyone out, it is not our intention.

TODAY, TRULY was an example of what a COMMUNITY wide, spectacular, sensational event looks like!! EACH AND EVERYONE SHOULD BE SO PROUD!!!!
